Conflict and Reason

confusion settles in
skin seals me
while everything inside is in pieces
unquiet mind
stars were out
it was so peaceful
they gave my thoughts company
should have known
need to understand
had some help
someone i cannot see
covered my heart
opened my eyes
and told me to just listen
my heart was screaming
for lack of air, lack of love
hyperventilating
fluttering out of control
lack of understanding
so much all at once
the feelings and thoughts
are in my face
but now i am safe
a shield has been raised
an understanding achieved
fate would have a notion
of what it is all about
if only i could speak the language
spacey, dreamy
not always what we want
but undoubtedly what we need
sometimes the conclusion isn't in clear view
clarity is not achieved
until after the fact
when the heart and mind
begin to speak again
as if they were in a fight
it is somewhat unfair
the heart cannot help
what it feels
therefore it is controlled
by the mind
sorrow, sadness
loneliness and apathy
are small solutions
for what could potentially
be dangerous
for whom it is dangerous
is not always clear
till the end when it is
all said and done
circles and dark spaces
are all that come to mind
when the heart is left in charge
circles of repetition
the heart is replaying
that one movie
over and over
dark spaces are voids
coming to light
realities seeming
clearer than before
it isn't always so cut and dry
to fight the heart
you banish it
the dark spaces
become a safe
spot to stay
no sorrow, sadness
loneliness and apathy
